Alaska House... The Dream
 Bruce King isn't a
great big guy, nor is he one to stand and scream to get his way. But as
those who have come to know him will tell you, he has a tendency to be
a tad bullheaded when he decides he wants something done. Such was the
case when Bruce and Licha decided to buy, renovate, and ultimately open
Alaska House in downtown Chillicothe, Missouri.
Purchased in 2006 while on a trip through Missouri, the
building has become the center of the couple's world. Bruce has spent
endless hours working to make a vision come to life. Hours upon hours
of hard work have gone into renovations. There were times when it
looked hopeless. Times when others thought they should quit, but Bruce
and Licha hung in there. Everything from tearing out walls, replacing
wiring, painting, drywalling, and replacing floors has kept the old man
busy. To see it now a person would never believe it is the same
building that was purchased in 2006.
But what better person than the guy who is a master glazier,
a super carpenter, and a pretty good hand with a drywall trowel? With a
little help from his friends and family (thanks guys for all your
weekends and hard work!) and hiring the electricity and plumbing
contractors, Bruce's Amazing Project has come to life. The results are
truly outstanding. We are pretty proud of our Bruce! As his daughters,
Kim & Jamie say, "Bruce is in the amazing business!"
